Carolyn Engle earned her Bachelor of Music from the Hartt School of Music, where she studied with David Wells. She went on to receive her Master of Music from UConn under the tutelage of Mary Lou Rylands. She continued her piano studies in college with Paul Rutman.
Carolyn is currently principal cellist of the New Britain Symphony Orchestra, the Wallingford Symphony Orchestra, and the Nutmeg Symphony Orchestra. She also plays regularly with the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra. In addition to playing in orchestras, Carolyn also performs with two strings quartets, the Mariona String Quartet and the New Britain Symphony Quartet. Carolyn currently teaches choral and general music at Holmes Elementary School in New Britain. She’s the organist and choir director at the Road Church in Stonington.
Carolyn has appeared as soloist on piano with the Farmington Symphony Orchestra and the Concert Chamber Orchestra. On cello, she has played concertos with the Bristol Symphony Orchestra, the Nutmeg Symphony Orchestra, and the Beth El Temple Symphony Orchestra.
Carolyn has been a student of Tae Kwon Do for 21 years. She enjoys reading, writing, playing music, visiting with her 25-year-old daughter, and riding roller coasters and other thrill rides.
