Laura Giannini is an Italian-born violinist currently based in New York City. She joined the New Britain Symphony Orchestra last year in the first violin section.
At age nineteen Laura was selected by violinist Uto Ughi to perform as soloist and member of his Festival Omaggio a Roma Youth Orchestra. A graduate of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome and Hochschule für Künste Bremen in Germany, Ms. Giannini was a student of Felix Ayo and Katrin Scholz, as well as Shmuel Ashkenasi and Daniel Phillips in USA.
While living in Europe, Laura was an active chamber musician for several artistic institutions, such as Accademia dei Cameristi, A.Gi.Mus. Roma, Musica a Piazza Navona and Deutscher Tonkünstlerverband. Her performance of Schönberg’s Pierrot Lunaire as violinist in the Kammerensemble Nordwind was also broadcast live on Deutschland Radio Kultur. In 2006 she contributed as a member of the Ensemble Méditerranée to the recording of chamber works by Raffaele Gervasio in a CD produced by DAD Records.
Ms. Giannini is at present engaged in various musical projects, including those of Semplice Players – chamber group performing with Mark Peskanov at Bargemusic, Broadway Sings, The Queens Consort and Ensemble Leonarda. In summer 2018 she toured in Taiwan presenting both modern and baroque repertoire respectively in duo with piano and harpsichord. Laura has performed in several orchestras and chamber groups around the world at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, DiMenna Center for Classical Music, The National Opera Center, Die Glocke, Yuanlin Performing Arts Hall, Shinmin Art Center Performance Hall, Piccinni Theater and Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome.
Ms Giannini is also excited to be a member and cofounder of the QueensSound Ensemble, a chamber group combining vocal and instrumental music, and OLLA Rhapsody Violin Duo, both since 2019.
