Free Concert! Country Fiddlers – Canceled

May 10, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

Regretfully, due to the coronavirus outbreak, this event has been canceled. We hope to be back playing for you soon!

What is the difference between a violin and a fiddle?  The Country Fiddlers, led by Dana Takaki and Hugh Birdsall, will play some violin and some fiddle including a mix of covers and many originals written and performed in our own Connecticut country.

The program will include older swing tunes (La Vie En Rose, Gershwin’s Summertime), popular covers (All Shook Up, Country Roads), fiddle classics (Down by the Riverside, Wabash Cannonball) and newer covers that feature the violin / fiddle (Fisherman’s Blues).

The program also includes several original songs written by Hugh Birdsall and his band (When the Morning Comes, Just Maybe).

The duo will be joined by Mickey Williston (singer / guitar) and Kevin Salley (singer / percussion). Dana also plays violin / fiddle duets with her son, Tanner Aikens. Tanner and Dana will play a few duets, including the fiddle tune Ashoken Farewell.
