June 6, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The New Britain Symphony Orchestra is very pleased and proud to announce this good will recital on Thursday, June 6th at 6pm at South Congregational – First Baptist Church, 90 Main Street, New Britain.

Alec and the NBSO are incredibly excited to be partnering with Family Promise of Central Connecticut to present an evening of tuba music for the Family Promises families. The recital is also open to the public. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted at the door. All funds will be donated to Family Promise of Central Connecticut.

This program is an effort to showcase the diversity of the tuba, an instrument often regarded as “heavy” or “clumsy” when in fact it can be quite agile and exciting. Alec will be performing music ranging from Bach and Handel all the way to modern solos with electronics and even an original composition.  Through this he will showcase a variety of techniques, musical styles, and (hopefully) leave the audience with a new impression of the tuba.

Alec is the recipient of our 2016 Helen Kilduff- Elizabeth Elia Scholarship, awarded annually to a high school senior from New Britain, Berlin, Plainville, or Newington, CT who displays outstanding musical proficiency and has been accepted by an institution of higher learning to major in music.

Alec currently attends the Oberlin Conservatory of Music on a Dean’s Scholarship.
