The New Britain Symphony Orchestra has announced that recent New Britain High School graduate Gabriel Leardi is the 42nd recipient of the Helen Kilduff – Elizabeth Elia Scholarship. The scholarship is presented annually to a graduating high school student from New Britain, Berlin or Plainville who displays outstanding proficiency on an orchestral instrument, piano or voice and intends to major in music throughout his or her collegiate career.

Gabriel Leardi earned the award through his proficiency on the trombone. In addition to his work on the trombone he is also a talented vocalist. He has been a very dedicated student of music throughout his years at New Britain High School, having performed in nearly every ensemble within the Music Department and will begin the Music Education program at Central Connecticut State University this fall. “His excellent musicianship, eagerness to learn and to help others earned him the position of Drill Sergeant of the Marching Band and Student leader of the Madrigal/Show Choirs during his senior year,” said Brian Germain, Choral Director of New Britain High School.

As a dedicated musician and proven leader, the New Britain Symphony Orchestra is proud to help Gabriel Leardi continue his education in music at Central Connecticut State University.
