The New Britain Symphony Orchestra’s 2018-2019 season will open on Nov 4, 2018 with From Chopin to Star Wars: The Symphony Celebrates 70 Years, under the baton of James Sinclair, conductor and music director of the Orchestra of New England. The concert will take place at Welte Hall, Central Connecticut State University at 3 pm.

The program will include:

Chopin: Les Sylphides
Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 23, in A Major, K. 488, with guest soloist: Eric Trudel
Gershwin: Cuban Overture
Porgy and Bess
Williams: Star Wars


On March 10, 2019, the Symphony will perform Dance For Joy, with Kalena Bovell, conductor of the Civic Orchestra of New Haven.

The dance inspired program will include:

Berlioz: Roman Carnival Overture
Dvorak: Slavonic Dance Op. 46 No. 2 in E minor
Bruch: Violin Concerto in G Minor
Gounod: Faust Ballet Music
De Falla: La Vida Breve: Spanish Dance No. 1
Rimsky-Korsakov: Capriccio Espagnol, Op. 34


Our main stage season will conclude on May 5 with Spring in Bloom, led by Edward Cumming, Hartt School of Music, with guest violinist Sirena Huang. The concert will celebrate new beginnings and the magic of the season.

Copland: Appalachian Spring
Vivaldi: “Spring” from The Four Seasons, with guest soloist: Sirena Huang
Puccini: Flower Song duet from Madama Butterfly
Saint-Saens: Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, with guest soloist: Sirena Huang
Glazunov: Waltz of the Cornflowers and Poppies, from The Seasons
Delibes: Flower Duet from Lakmé
Strauss: Roses from the South
