The New Britain Symphony has announced its sixth annual Brass and Organ Concert to open the holiday season. The festive concert will be performed Sunday, December 6, 3 p. m.at St. Mark’s Church, 147 West Main Street, New Britain. The concert, an offering in the NBSO’s Mini-Concert series, is free and open to the public.
“Each year the NBSO is delighted to present this popular concert to usher in the season of lights and love,” said Sylvia O’Reilly, symphony president, “We invite our greater community to share this exhilarating experience of hearing the splendor of brass instruments and the sweet pipes of the organ playing the favorite music of the season.”
The NBSO musicians will perform under the lead of Walter Gibson, the symphony’s principal tuba player and personnel manager. Other featured brass players include Kenneth Tedeschi, trumpet; Frank Gawle, trumpet; Reese Farrell, horn; David Kayser, trombone. Organist Floyd Higgins, co-director of music with his wife at Sacred Heart Parish, Suffield, is also a member of the NBSO.
A free will offering will be taken for the benefit of the St Mark’s Food Pantry and the NBSO Mini Concert Series.
